SprungVideo Games can get a short stick sometimes. They’ve been blamed for pretty much every school shooting committed in the last ten years. Supposedly they lead to violence and rage. Supposedly they lead to social ineptness, isolation, and the breakdown of society. Books, on the other hand, which have inspired wars, fascism, and cult suicides, are seen as an educational and a highly worthy hobby. But I’m going off track a bit here. Games are violent. I have to admit here to being a bit of a pacifist. Given a choice between war or diplomacy, I pick diplomacy. That’s why, in Civilization 4, I keep winning by setting up the United Nations and voting for unilateral peace. Equally, if I’m given a choice between shooting someone or saving them, I’ll save them.

However violence is only one adult theme. Sex is the other, and sex is what I want to talk about. So far I’ve seen surprisingly little of it in mainstream games. Sure you have those Japanese hentai dating sims, but if you consider the array of top selling western games right now you won’t be finding anything more erotic than a fur bikini or a panty shot.
